    Re:   Principal’s Report

  • I continue to meet with teachers of Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. At the meetings we discuss students, curriculum and set up meetings with parents when necessary.

  • JMG attended a leadership conference on 10/18 and 10/19.  The students were put through a series of leadership, networking, and team building initiatives with other JMG students from all over central Maine.  On day two, they presented an innovative idea that would help solve a social issue in our community.  They were recognized as having the best presentation in their group.  Among other things, they met with JMG alumni, listened to a guest speaker, and worked with other schools to complete an escape room, etc.

  • Our annual Fall College Trip is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2017, and Thursday, November 2, 2017, pending School Board approval.  Our tentative colleges are SMCC, Tufts, Stonehill College and Salem State University, with a stay overnight at a motel in the Boston Area.

  • On Monday, November 6, JMG students from Carrabec and Madison will be presenting at their 2nd annual Reverse Career Fair at Carrabec High School.  Since September, students have been researching careers, colleges, conducting interviews, and attending job shadows.  They are putting all of this information into professional presentations that they will give on the 6th.

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on Wednesday, November 8, from 2:30-6:30 p.m.  A letter was mailed to each student’s home advising the date and ways to schedule meetings with their child’s teachers.

  • Youth in Maine Government will be taking place on November 10th, 11th and 12th. Around nine students will participate in the annual Youth in Government Program (also called Model State).

  • The high school “team”, because it takes a team, has been working on rolling out a standards based report card.  I have included a sample report card and an explanation of what it all means.
