ADMISSION OF EXCHANGE STUDENTS

The Board of Directors of RSU #74 recognizes the value to our school community of enrolling foreign exchange students at Carrabec High School. Realizing that exchange students are in this country for the purpose of experiencing the American “way of life”, and in order to insure a positive experience for them as well as our own students, the following guidelines are set:

1.) An exchange student must be a high school age student, preferably a senior, under the sponsorship of an organized and registered exchange program and host family.

2.) Evidence must be presented that the student can benefit from and achieve in class work given in the typical American classroom.

3.) Exchange students will enroll in an English and U.S. History class. Further, the student must carry a minimum of three (3) one credit subjects or their equivalent per semester.

4.) A Carrabec High School diploma will be awarded to a graduating senior exchange student who has met all the State and Board requirements.

5.) In the case of an underclass exchange students, a certificate of recognition and attendance will be awarded at the Senior Awards Assembly.

6.) The tuition fee will be waived.

7.) Any request for approval to enroll an exchange student must be made to the High School Principal or Guidance Director at least six (6) weeks prior to the opening of school.
