SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

AUTHORITY OF THE SUPERINTENDENT


In addition to the powers and duties as prescribed by law, the Superintendent is authorized to:

1.) Administer the educational programs and support services of RSU #74 in compliance with School Board policies, Maine state statutes, and federal regulations.

2.) Recommend policies to the School Board based upon the needs of the school system.

3.) Issue truancy notices.

4.) Admit tuition pupils.

5.) Hire substitute teachers and tutors for instruction of the handicapped.

6.) Hire support personnel after having advertised in a public newspaper. Consideration should be given residents of the District where qualifications are equal.

7.) Terminate support personnel when necessary.

8.) Arrange for snow removal.

9.) Execute lease agreements for temporary school housing, buses, and extra-curricular facilities.

10.) Perform such related duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.

11.) Nominate Professional Staff for elections and inform School Board of resignations.

12.) Maintain up to date job descriptions for all personnel.
