At Carrabec High School

Robert Demchak, Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Directors Present: Judi Dunphy, Robert Demchak, Troy Dunphy, Tammy Murray, Larry Dunphy, Kevin Sousa, Bobbi Sue Harrington, Heather Hilenski, Robert Lindblom, and Deron Whittemore.

Directors absent with notification: Dulcie Welch, Laura Layman, and Robert Dunphy

Directors Absent without notification: Grace Carreiro and Annette Folco

Staff Members Present: 14

Citizens Present: 0

1.) Agenda Item #1 SCHOOL BOARD WORKSHOP ON THE SCHOOL BUDGET

Motion #1

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Troy Dunphy the Board voted 9-1 to reduce the budget by $8,100 by eliminating the 1/5 Elementary Art position. Motion passed.

Motion #2

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Heather Hilenski the Board voted 5-5 to reduce the budget by $40,000 by eliminating the Middle Level Teacher. Motion failed.

Motion #3

Upon Motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Tammy Murray the Board voted by unanimous consent to reduce the budget by $10,000 by cutting the Superintendent’s/Business Office Clerk hours.

Motion #4

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Tammy Murray the Board discussed reducing the budget by $12,500 by cutting MDI.

Upon motion by Judi Dunphy and seconded by Deron Whittemore the Board voted by unanimous consent to move the vote.

The Board voted 3-7. Motion failed.

Motion #5

Upon motion by Judi Dunphy and seconded by Larry Dunphy the Board voted 7-3 to reduce the budget by $25,300 by eliminating the MDI Program. Motion passed.

Motion #6

Upon motion by Judi Dunphy and seconded by Heather Hilenski the Board discussed not cutting the 3/5 Elementary PE position.

Upon motion by Larry Dunphy and seconded by Troy Dunphy the Board voted by unanimous consent to move the vote.

The Board voted by unanimous consent to not cut the 3/5 Elementary PE position.

Motion #7

Upon motion by Judi Dunphy and seconded by Larry Dunphy the Board voted 6-4 to reduce the budget by $3,900 by cutting the Children’s Stage Adventures. Motion passed.

Motion #8

Upon motion by Tammy Murray and seconded by Heather Hilenski the Board voted 3-7 to reduce the budget by $1,200 by cutting the Norlands 8^th Grade Trip. Motion failed.

Motion #9

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Tammy Murray the Board voted 3-7 to reduce the budget by $40,000 by cutting the Middle level Teacher. Motion failed.

Motion #10

Upon motion by Judi Dunphy and seconded by Larry Dunphy the Board voted 9-0-1 to reduce the budget by $30,000 by maintaining the Middle level Teacher and cutting ½ Alternative Ed position. Motion passed. Tammy Murray abstained.

Motion #11

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Troy Dunphy the Board voted 9-1 to add $1 back into the MDI to hold the line. Motion passed.

Motion #12

Upon motion by Bobbi Sue Harrington and seconded by Heather Hilenski the Board voted 9-1 to add $1 back into the Children’s Stage Adventure to hold the line. Motion passed.

Motion #13

Upon motion by Robert Demchak and seconded by Deron Whittemore the Board voted 7-3 to approve the budget as presented with a $440,921 increase. Motion passed.

The meeting was declared adjourned by Robert Demchak, Chair at 8:13 pm.
