Re: Athletic Director’s March Report
The winter sports season has officially come to a close. The high school varsity basketball teams wrapped up their regular season with Senior Night on February 5th. On this night we honored the seniors playing in their last regularly scheduled home game. Once again we hosted Valley and the gym was as full as it has been in a while.
The Carrabec girls’ basketball team finished the season 10-8 and ranked 8th. This qualified the team to host a preliminary playoff game once again this year. The girls hosted the Searsport Vikings on February 13th. By winning, the girls made it to the quarterfinal round at the Augusta Civic Center. Unfortunately the team ran into the #1 seeded North Yarmouth Academy Panthers. NYA beat Carrabec to bring their season to a close.
Our girls were recipients of some end of the season awards worth noting:
Molly Hay - McDonald's Senior All Star and First Team East/West Conference
Anna Canales - Honorable Mention East/West Conference
Aiyana Tibbetts - Honorable Mention East/West Conference
The Carrabec boys’ basketball team finished the season 12-6 which allowed them to be ranked 5th in Class C South. This gave the boys a quarterfinal matchup at the Augusta Civic Center vs the 4th seeded Waynflete Flyers. The Cobras won 46-43 moving on to the semifinals. This was just the second semifinal appearance for the boys in the school’s history. The semifinal game had the Cobras vs the #1 seeded Mt. Abram Roadrunners. The boys lost to Mt. Abram finishing the season at 13-7.
Our boys were recipients of some end of the season awards worth noting:
Cooper Dellarma - First Team East/West Conference
Pete Vicneire - First Team East/West Conference
Desmond Robonson - Honorable Mention East/West Conference
Logan Caldwell - Honorable Mention East/West Conference
Our junior high teams finished their seasons playing in the Pine Cone League tournament. The boys and girls played on Friday, February 9th. The girls played Madison in a very close game but eventually lost. The boys beat Rangeley on Friday before losing on Saturday in the semifinals.
Laci Madore and Madison Wyman were named League All Stars for the girls and Bradley Rogers and Lane Frost were all stars for the boys.
The Spring sports season kicks off on March 19th with just pitchers and catchers. On the 25th the full squads for Tennis, Baseball, Softball, & Track start preseason. I have included the schedules for baseball, Softball, & Tennis. Track is not ready for publication yet.
