Re: Athletic Director’s February Report

The winter sports’ season is beginning to wrap up. The Carrabec High School girls’ basketball team is currently in 8th place with nine wins and six losses. Based on the latest standings, the girls’ team will host a preliminary playoff game on February 13th. Depending on how the last three games of the regular season go, the girls could either host a preliminary playoff game or go on the road. The boys’ basketball team currently finds themselves in 5th place in the latest heal point standings. After last night’s win the team has a record of ten wins and five losses. The boys are hoping to finish in the top five of the MPA Heal Points. The top five teams receive an automatic bye to play at the Augusta Civic Center. If the boys are unable to finish in the top five, they will play a preliminary playoff game on February 14th.

It has been difficult to find games for our JV programs at the high school. The JV boys’ highlight of the season came on Tuesday night at Temple Academy when they secured their first win of the season over Temple Academy.

Important dates to remember for the remaining high school basketball season:

February 1st Girls Varsity & JV @ NYA

February 2nd Boys JV, Girls & Boys Varsity vs Temple

February 5th Girls & Boys Varsity vs Valley (Senior Night)

February 13th Class C Preliminary Playoff (Girls)

February 14th Class C Preliminary Playoff (Boys)

February 19th Class C Quarterfinal @ The Augusta Civic Center (Boys)

February 20th Class C Quarterfinal @ The Augusta Civic Center (Girls)

The junior boys and girls have just three regular season games left in the regular season. Their seasons end with the traditional Pine Cone League tournament. This tournament will be held at Madison High School on the weekend of February 9th & 10th. The opponents and exact times will be decided based on the final standings.

The “buzz” at the middle school this winter is due in part to our brand new cheerleading squad. Coach McDonald has the girls cheering throughout the game and the cheerleaders even do a halftime routine. I have had many compliments from fans and officials about the cheerleaders.

Thank you,

Erik Carey
