Yearly Health Updates
Each school year, parents are asked to fill out health information forms; these forms are now available online during the application process. If there are changes during the school year, please notify the Nurse immediately. You may go into Synergy and make changes to the application. The request for health information includes a permission to treat form, which allows the school nurse and/or other non-medical school personnel approved by the district physician to administer medications or treatments; this form is also part of the application process. For parents who do not give permission, medications will not be given at school, and the nurse and/or other non-medical school personnel will contact parents regarding the illness and for dismissal plans. RSU 74 sends links to the application process and instructions. Please check your email if you have not received this information. Found here: Health History Questionnaire Form
State of Maine Immunization Requirements for School
Maine law requires students to be fully immunized for their age/grade to attend school. See below for the current Maine Immunization Law and school-age children requirements.
Please see the handbook and the information below for updated illness guidelines. If any of the illnesses are present, please contact the school office to have your student excused. If your student is not feeling well and cannot participate in school, please contact the school office to have them excused.
Respiratory Illnesses
RSU 74 follows the CDC guidelines for a safe return to school after respiratory illness and asks that you follow them. SEE: Updated Respiratory Guidance.
RSU 74 encourages students, staff, and visitors to practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of germs. These include washing hands with soap and water, using hand sanitizer, covering coughs and sneezes, and never sharing water bottles or cups.
Dental
RSU 74 offers two dental programs to meet the needs of all students requiring dental care. A dental hygienist visits twice a year and accepts MaineCare and cash payments. This service includes cleaning, exams, fluoride treatments, temporary fillings, and Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF). The CDC oral health program visits twice yearly and provides students with free oral exams and fluoride treatment at no cost. The forms below must be completed.
